I chose a room with a sea view, and that is exactly what you got, a full sea view, as the promenade is just across the road
Self Service Cooked Breakfast buffet, was very good, and the dining room also has the sea view. Restaurant staff respectful, kind and helpful. Dinners were also very good.
Nice quality shampoo and gel.

The Black Rock House was exactly what I needed after a long journey from New Zealand. Clean, tidy, well-equipped, spacious, and not to mention the host, Vincent, was incredibly helpful and accommodating (and cooks a great breakfast). The house isn't in the centre of Hastings, but it's a reasonable and straightforward walk into the town.
The Retro Retreat with free parking is located in Hastings. It has a terrace, sea views and free WiFi. This apartment comes with a seating area, a kitchenette with an oven, and a flat-screen TV.

Hastings is a gem that i hadn't discovered before even though it is only two hours away from our home by car! it can certainly give Brighton a run for its money!
I hadn't appreciate that it is so big and therefore staying in St Leonards is quite a stretch by foot. We did use a bus though on one occasion which would work well if you had longer to figure it all out.
In the future I would seriously consider staying longer there. The May day events were so well organised too and every pub ( The Smugglers) and restaurant ( the Thai bookshop in George Street, Webbe's sea food restaurant on the sea frornt and Fagins in George Street)we went into we were greeted wholeheartedly-despite it being busy. The food in each was excellent.

I love Hastings. But I don’t appreciate it when the apartment I booked didn’t happen to exist.I had to book another place which was fantastic. The whole experience was stressful and not welcome, it was supposed to be a relaxing break.

Hastings has weathered recent years rather better than many...
Hastings has weathered recent years rather better than many towns. The Old Town area which was a little run down on my last visit has now been restored with many restaurants and the narrow streets had a friendly vibe missing from places like The Lanes in Brighton. The town centre is nothing special but only has a few empty shops. St Leonards seems to be its more upmarket twin although the transition between towns is seamless. The coastal area is varied including an under cover "bottle alley" and some good coffee shops (Goat Ledge being my favourite with a hippy vibe). It also felt safe with groups of people of all ages just enjoying being outdoors by the sea with some music. There seem to be plentiful buses to explore further afield and there are two funicular lifts to the top of the cliffs for a more scenic view and to visit the castle. Other towns on the south coast may have a better reputation, but I doubt that you'd get a hotel with sea view at such an affordable price and the locals are universally friendly.

Being a resident of Hastings for most of my life, The town like many others has it's up and downs, The area of St Leonards is peppered with bars and eateries as is the Old town of Hastings.
I can't recommend enough an Italian gem La Bella Vista on the seafront of St Leonards.

Hastings always has a lot to offer but going off season means a lot of the places are not open. But there is still plenty to see and do good variety of coffee shops restaurants and bars to suit all tastes. St Leonard’s, Bexhill, Eastbourne and Brighton are all within driving distance. George st has loads of quirky shops to browse in. In peak season the fair ground and amusement arcades are great for the kids. Highly recommended.
Maggies is best for fish & chips
Two bulls for steak. Or go to Bentleys steakhouse in bexhill for the best steak experience plenty of Italian eateries. And there are 3 great wet fish and seafood outlets at Rockanoor
The location of Tower House 1066 was great for the purpose of why we had went, we had an event at the Oval hastings and it was a 15 minute walk from the venue. The town centre is also within walking distance around 15-20 minutes. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful telling us where we could go if we wanted to get food and also helping us with travel tips. The rooms were clean and the beds were really comfortable, each room came with 2 bottles of water and had shower gel / soap as well as towels in each room.
The hotel has clearly seen better days, but it was clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. We stayed one night because we were attending a function that evening. I would recommend as it was value for money and in an excellent location right on the sea front and within walking distance of everything that is great about Hastings. Just one tiny thing - hot chocolate sachets in the room would have been awesome!!
A lovely large spacious light and airy room in a gorgeous old building. Full of charm, character and original features. Building and room very clean (and smelt lovely). We wanted for nothing. Very convenient central location. Beats the chain hotel I used to stay in whilst in Hastings hands down, and much better value for money. Didn't really miss breakfast on-site as so many options so close by. We will be back!!
This isn’t a hotel - it’s a guesthouse. So you’re emailed key details which you unlock from a key safe. But it’s GREAT. Really nice touches - huge towels are something most hotels should pick up on - and very safe and secure. Right by Hastings train station and it will take you less than 5 mins to walk down to the sea. Book with total confidence. It’s like having your own apartment.
We loved this hotel. The building and garden are beautiful and the family room was lovely with fantastic views. The cold breakfast was ok but definitely a weakness as the room was not cheap. The owners were very kind and the place is spotless. We would absolutely recommend it if you visit Hastings. What a great town! There is lots to do and see, specially with children.
Traditional hotel just next to the sea in St. Leonards / Hastings. We choice the hotel to get a traditional English experience and this hotel was just what we were looking for :) A bit dated, but we liked the spacious rooms and location. We enjoyed the short walk to Hastings and the beautiful old centre. Our room was very spacious with tea making facilities.
Nice hotel with a lot of small corridors and staircases. The lift was a bit claustrophobic so we preferred the stairs. The rooms were on the small side, but big enough, the bed was comfy and the bathroom area was surprisingly big.
Breakfast was good, hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
If we come back to Hastings we will look for this hotel again 😊
I was pleasantly surprised to see that my single room had a sea view! Usually, the single rooms are dark broom cupboards but here it was different. Clean hotel with a very nice staff. I happened to visit when there were issues with water in Hastings area due to burst pipe but the staff did everything they could to make the inconvenience bearable.
Stayed for work purposes and found Ian and Beverley tremendous hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. My room was superb and very comfortable. If you are looking to stay in Hastings or the surrounding area for work or pleasure give Hastings House a try. If you like your curries the Ghurkha Chef just around the corner from the hotel is superb.
The room was lovely, and exceeded our expectations. The B&B is located right on the promenade, with easy access to the beach and good restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The owners were incredibly helpful and friendly and breakfast was delicious. Would whole heartedly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Hastings.
Beautiful hotel . We were shown to our room by the manager, who gave us a free sea veiw upgrade. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to stay an extra night. The staff shuffled things so we could stay in the same room. All the staff are so friendly and the breakfast is absolutely perfect. I will be back again for certain.
Delightful staff and a delicious breakfast. The hotel was full of character and very well maintained. This part of Hastings never ceases to delight and offer so much to explore. Will definitely go again.
I also had my nails polished in the beauty salon and that was great too. A normal polish lasted nearly a week!
The location was great for us. The room was decorated simply but with an upscale vibe. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Nice restaurant. This hotel was excellent and the price was amazing!
The few staff do their best in an old Victoria hotel that needs extensive modernisation. They were friendly. It was clean. The sea view is was good. It is a building with a lot of history. Faded glory.
